District Vidin is situated in northwest Bulgaria in the Danube valley. Its whole territory is spreading from the turn of the river Danube to the mountainous hills of Stara Planina.

Administrative center is Vidin situated on the bank of the river Danube just 30-35 meters above see level. There are 56 culture monuments in Vidin district, among which late and middle ages archeological sites, churches, mosque and buildings.
